The Best of Both Worlds
Before I start, I would like to explain that this blog is supposed to be a joint blog post. It was done with one of my classmates, Steve Norris, on Disney's most popular teen pop star... also known as Miley Cyrus. (You can find a link to his blog at the bottom of this post). While it may seem that i am going to review Miley Cyrus' clothing choices, which I very well could as they are MUCH too mature for her age, I am actually going to rant about the charmingly funny and talented Miley (aka Hannah Montana). And I am going to borrow the words of Steve Norris, fellow blog writer and classmate, when I say that Miley Cyrus thoroughly "boils my egg."
I have yet to meet a seven-year-old girl who does not worship all things Hannah Montana/ Miley Cyrus. All you have to do is stroll through Wal Mart and you will be flooded in Hannah Montana merchandise: hats, socks, shirts, jackets, pants, skirts (even one in *excited gasp* my size!), pencils, notebooks, folders, gel pens, rulers, jewelry, cards. Because nothing is more sentimental than a card with Hannah Montana's horselike smile plastered all over it.
My problem with Hannah Montana is that she is a horrible role model for our children. Just take a good look at these photographs of Miley trying to look older and sexier than her 16 years. I've even heard rumors of photographs of her in her underwear on the internet. Not only was she offered a Playboy contract once she turns 18, but her FATHER, Billy Ray Cyrus, encouraged her to take Hugh Hefner up on the generous offer. I rest my case.
I am so tired of watching Hannah Montana singlehandedly rot the minds of our little girls that I wish there was something to be done about it. Unfortunately she makes Disney so much money that she would never be disowned by them. Still, I am going to write my next essay (about a problem I see in society today) on Hannah Montana (as well as other Disney Channel and Nickelodeon shows). It's not much, but it's the best I can do for my beloved and beautiful USA.
And now... go to Steve's blog to see a hilarious rant about Disney's pop icon Miley Cyrus
